Kempinski Palm Jumeirah
The first stop on our Privilee Tour I instantly fell in love with this hotel. Tucked away at a quiet spot on the Palm Jumeirah Island is the European styled building which looks like a dazzling palace. It is very easy to find and has bling bling written all over it.
I must say upon first impressions I was absolutely impressed! Stepping into the lobby the first thing you notice is a model of the hotel. Better than any map, you can get your bearings and take in all that the Kempinski has to offer. The lobby itself is styled beautifully and features a stunning gold sun dome between the grand staircases.
With one main pool and a little kids pool attached to it you’ve got all you need at one spot. A nice feature of the pool is the little water fountains dotted about in the middle – they each have steps for little ones to sit on and play about.
I loved the sunk-in sun beds with the Jacuzzi bubbles and it was positioned right next to the kids pool which was perfect to keep an eye on little ones. The kids pool is small, shallow and shaded with decking wrapped around it. So if you wanted to catch some rays but have a little one in tow the decking provides a prefect space to do so.
The water temperature was perfect in both pools and there’s also a little swim-up bar tucked away at a corner. As we went on a weekday it was very quiet which added to the magical hideaway experience we had. The service was very good and I managed to catch the attention of waiters instantly whenever I needed one. It was sun bed galore and I had plenty to pick from.
A little extra perk Privilee members get is the use of a cabana complimentary once a month. You have to call in ahead of your visit to reserve it. Right next to the pool is a little playground for children and a grassy area where boys and girls can play football.
With the Privilee card you get a 15% discount at Brunello, Bonfire, K West and the swim-up pool bar. We decided to give the girls an early dinner at the Italian restaurant Burnello. They loved their veal-sausages with mash and gravy and were treated like little princesses at the lavish bistro. The décor in the restaurant is plush and very bling we will be returning for a dinner for two at some point.
The beach is virtually right by the swimming pool which was perfect for me. Set in a lagoon it’s perfect for young children. My girls managed to find some really nice bright pink sea shells at the beach including a live starfish! So not only did they have fun in the sun but they had a scientific experience too. They’ve also got lifeguards and water-sport rental is available at an extra charge.
Being a weekday there were plenty of sun beds available at the beach and I had a very relaxing time lying down with a full view of the striking Dubai Marina skyline.
The Kids Club
The kids club is located on the 2nd floor of the hotel. Not as close to the pool as I would like but what’s great is that it’s complimentary to children up to the age of 12. Children under 4 had to be accompanied by an adult. Plenty of role-play games here at this kids club with a dress-up corner, arts and crafts and playhouses. A great place to send little ones to escape from the heat.
I had a magical day at the Kempinski, it was tranquil and very peaceful. With the tucked away location I felt like I was on a hidden retreat. There was everything I needed and expected at a 5-star resort including luxurious facilities, great service and quality food. I really felt at home and comfortable being there….time for me virtually stood still as I indulged in pure relaxation.
